Paul M. Schwartz
Paul is currently the Managing Director of Intellectual Asset Group, LLC (IAG), a leading IP transactions and advisory firm, where he has primary responsibility for sourcing and structuring strategic patent and technology transfer transactions across multiple industries and product lines, with an emphasis in wireless infrastructure, applied AI, semiconductor design and manufacture, and next generation displays. Paul has more than 30 years of experience prosecuting, litigating, and licensing thousands of patents worldwide.
Prior to founding IAG, Paul was Vice President and General Counsel of St. Clair Intellectual Property Consultants, Inc. (SCI) where he had responsibility for developing and implementing SCI’s patent acquisition and monetization strategy, successfully prosecuting, litigating and licensing pioneer digital camera patents and obtaining related judgments and patent license agreements exceeding $100 million. Before joining SCI, Paul was a Litigation Partner at Brooks Kushman.
Paul holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from Michigan State University and a J.D. from the School of Law, Wayne State University. Paul was formerly a teaching assistant in the MSU department of Physics and Astronomy, and a research assistant under a grant from the National Science Foundation. He is a U.S. Registered Patent Attorney and an active member of the Michigan bar. Paul has been admitted to practice in multiple State and Federal courts including California, Delaware, Illinois, Michigan, and Texas, as well as the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals.
Dallas R. Martin
Dallas is an attorney and executive with over thirty-five years of legal and business experience. He is Founder and Principal Member at Dallas R. Martin & Associates, PLLC, a law firm focused on providing company formation and governance, contract negotiation, and intellectual property management and monetization services to startup and growth companies.
Prior to Martin & Associates, Dallas was Senior Vice President and General Counsel at iRunway, Inc., a full-service patent analytics and monetization consultancy that has helped leading law firms generate over $1.5 billion in licensing fees and litigation judgments in its 10-year history. He also served as Vice President and Licensing Executive at IPVALUE Management, Inc., including as the first General Manager of Diamond Coating Technologies LLC, a wholly-owned IPVALUE licensing and litigation subsidiary.
Prior positions include Vice President and IP Counsel at Level 3 Communications, LLC (now CenturyLink); Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary at SwitchPoint Networks, Inc.; Senior IP Counsel at First Data Corporation/Western Union (including appointment as general counsel for two First Data subsidiaries, VIPS, Inc. and MicroBilt Corp.); and Director, Intellectual Property and Technology Transfer Office at US WEST Advanced Technologies, Inc. (also now part of CenturyLink). IP management programs that Dallas created at these companies have generated over 5,000 patents, over 1,100 trademarks, and over $250 million in deal value.
Dallas has extensive experience in the legal and contract issues involved in the computer hardware and software, networking, financial services, telecommunications, e-commerce, energy and power generation, and contract R&D industries. Dallas holds Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctorate degrees from the University of Kansas. He is an active member of the Colorado Bar and was previously selected for inclusion in Intellectual Asset Management Magazine’s “IAM Strategy 300: The World’s Leading IP Strategists.”
Eric is an attorney and founder of Shuttle Legal Services, a Seattle law firm focused on outsourcing general counsel and related IP strategy functions. Before entering private practice, Eric spent more than 20 years working in various legal service and management roles for companies in Taiwan, including AU Optronics, and Wistron Corporation, a Fortune 500 Global 500 company, where he held positions including Associate General Counsel and Senior Patent Director. In his role as Associate General Counsel, Eric managed all legal functions for the company, including litigation and corporate transactional matters. As Senior Patent Director, he formulated and implementing worldwide IP strategy, including patent acquisitions, licensing, and divestitures.
Eric holds a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from National Tsing Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan, a Master of Science in Life Science, also from National Tsing Hua University, a JD degree from Seattle University School of Law, and a Master of Intellectual Property from the University of New Hampshire School of Law. Eric is a U.S. Registered Patent Attorney and an active member of the Washington Bar.
Mick A. Nylander
Mick is Vice President and Regional General Counsel of GKN North America and has more than 20 years of experience in litigation management, including all aspects of IP creation, development, and assertion. In his tenure at GKN, he has held various legal and management positions, including Vice President, Regional General Counsel, Driveline, Americas, Vice President, Divisional General Counsel Driveline & Powder Metallurgy, Vice President, Deputy General Counsel, and Chief Patent Counsel, Driveline, and General Counsel, Secretary, and Patent Counsel, GKN Automotive, Inc.
Mick holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from Michigan State University and a J.D. from the School of Law, Wayne State University. He is a U.S. Registered Patent Attorney and a member of the Michigan Bar.
James A. Coyne
Jim is a partner at Stoneleigh Capital LLC. Since 1994, he has led or played a key role in the acquisition, financing and oversight of companies that have invested in excess of $3 billion in real estate, finance and transportation related assets. He is currently on the board of directors or board of managers of the following companies that he has an ownership interest in: WP Hospitality Group (formerly Capella Hotel Group), an operator of ultra-premium hotels; DSC/Purgatory, LLC, the exclusive full service real estate provider for residential real estate development located at the base of Purgatory Mountain in Durango, Colorado; and XRiver Corporation, an IP and software company located in Chantilly, Virginia. He is also President of Hera East Holdings LLC, which houses various real estate investments in Canada, the US and the US Virgin Islands.
Jim is formerly the President of PLM International and Executive Vice President of Equis Financial Group. Equis and PLM were leasing companies that invested over $2 billion in commercial aircraft, shipping vessels, rail cars, trailers, and other equipment. With PLM he served as the primary executive officer for 5 different SEC reporting companies. He was also formerly on the board of managers the Echelon companies, developers of commercial and residential real estate primarily in Florida.
Jim has a BSBA with a finance concentration from John Carroll University (where he is currently a member of its board of directors and on its finance and investment committees); a Master of Accountancy from Case Western Reserve University; and began his career as a Certified Public Accountant with Ernst & Whinney, a predecessor to Ernst & Young.
Lisa Miller Schwartz
Lisa is the General Counsel of Intellectual Asset Group, LLC with oversight responsibility in all business and financial transactions, including preparation and/or filing of agreements as well as all required tax and compliance documents. She also serves as Managing Partner of BranchMark, PLC, the firm’s strategic IP legal services affiliate, where her practice focuses on IP monetization and related legal matters.
Prior to IAG, Lisa gained extensive litigation experience working as a trial attorney opposite the prosecutor’s office in the Legal Aid and Defender Association, where she represented defendants in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, and Wayne County Circuit Court, collectively managing and litigating hundreds of cases under an annual operating budget of $15M.
Lisa holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the University of Michigan and a J.D. from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law. Lisa is an active member of the Michigan Bar.
